Owls

European Eagle Owl

(Bubo bubo)

One of the most striking owls in the world and the largest. It is huge in size, up to approximately 28 inches tall and has the power to bring down and kill a small deer.

Great to fly but you must be careful where you fly them as they have been known to attack small dogs and cats.

When flown properly they look awesome with their huge wingspan and will take rabbits quite easily.

Magellans Eagle Owl

(Bubo virginianus narcurtu)

Sub species of the Great Horned Owl.
Good size owl for a novice. Great owl to fly. Has a lot of speed and agility and large powerful feet and is a good hunting bird.

Trained and flown properly they produce good flights and you can have a lot of fun with them

Barn Owl

(Tyto alba)

The Owl with the big personality. Mostly used as demonstration birds. Unlike most owls in the wild, barn owls will hunt naturally throughout the day and can often be seen on the wing during short winter days.

Bengal Eagle Owl

(Bubo bengalensis)

More fun than most of the owls. Easy to train. Used for demonstration and display birds. Good birds for beginners. Will hunt if persevered with.

Snowy Owl

(Nyctia scandiaca)

The Snowy Owl is absolutely stunning. But keeping one can be precarious as in the summer they can be overcome with the heat so you have to be very careful to avoid the owl getting to hot.

Owls are not really classed as Falconry Birds but are great fun to fly.
